Aqua Connect offers an alternative to Citrix while enabling a remote server solution for their FileMaker database

American City Business Journals needed to provide access to their FileMaker databases much quicker than just using FileMaker alone. They are a national organization and their FileMaker software was operating too slowly for some of their offices. It was very important to them to find a remote server solution that was Mac based. When they discovered Aqua Connect, they felt that they had found the perfect solution to solve their FileMaker network lag problem.

They installed Aqua Connect Remote Desktop Services on 3.0 Ghz 8-core Xserve, which had 32 GB of RAM. All of their clients were Mac machines, running either Microsoft's Remote Desktop Connection for Mac or the CoRD software client, with most of their users tending to use the CoRD software to connect. Their users primarily use ACRDS to access their FileMaker Pro databases and Safari.

Due to their installation of ACRDS, American City Business Journals were able to save a lot of time, money and frustration. It increased the productivity of their employees and dramatically reduced the level of frustration for many of their users. Prior to finding Aqua Connect, they seriously considered purchasing Citrix. They chose not to do so because Aqua Connect was Mac-based and less expensive to implement. They also briefly considered expanding their network capacity, but that was also too expensive for them to consider seriously. American City Business Journals see the potential for including it in other parts of their business, but for now are very satisfied with how Aqua Connect worked out for them.
